BIO4 Campus at BIO-Europe Spring in Milan: Building Bridges Across the European Biotech Ecosystem

21/03/2025

BIO4 Campus participated in BIO-Europe Spring 2025, held in Milan from March 18 to 20, one of the most important life sciences partnering events in Europe. With over 1,900 participating companies and institutions, the event provided a valuable platform for BIO4 to connect with global biotech stakeholders and strengthen Serbia’s position in the international innovation landscape.

Over the course of three days, the BIO4 team engaged in a series of targeted meetings with pharmaceutical companies, biotech accelerators, research institutions, and ecosystem builders. The focus was on identifying concrete opportunities for collaboration - from joint research and development initiatives to talent exchange and commercialization support.

In parallel to the conference, BIO4 visited two key players in Milan’s innovation ecosystem: the University of Milan and MIND Innovation District. This was organized in cooperation with BIO4’s Italian partners Arexpo and Fondazione FITT. Meetings focused on models for tech transfer, research-industry integration, and support for startups, offering valuable insight into how mature ecosystems operate.

Participation in BIO-Europe Spring contributes directly to BIO4’s core objectives: international positioning and strategic partnerships. By taking part in high-level conversations and learning from other ecosystems, BIO4 is building the relationships and knowledge necessary to accelerate biotech innovation in Serbia.

The visit also reinforced BIO4’s role as a connector, not only within Serbia, but across borders. Engaging with some of the most active European players helps open channels for collaboration that benefit the entire national ecosystem, from scientific institutions and startups to industry and government.

The outcomes of this visit include several initiated dialogues with potential partners, invitations for follow-up, and ideas for adapting successful practices to the Serbian context. BIO4 will continue to nurture these relationships as part of its ongoing effort to develop a strong, internationally connected biotech environment.
