BIO4 Campus at Biotech Future Forum 2025: Shaping Serbia’s AI-Driven Health Innovation

BIO4 Campus took part in the Biotech Future Forum 2025, organized by C4IR Serbia in cooperation with the World Economic Forum, contributing to two key sessions focused on regulatory innovation and data-driven healthcare transformation.

Regulatory Challenge Day: Introducing Test Beds for AI Medical Devices

The Regulatory Challenge Day workshop brought together national stakeholders involved in developing innovative medical devices based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Participants included representatives from ministries, regulatory bodies, funding institutions, startups, scientific institutes, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

The BIO4 Campus team supported the organization and actively contributed to workshop discussions. The session marked the first step toward introducing regulatory test beds into Serbian practice — controlled environments where innovators can develop, test, and validate AI- and ML-driven Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions, paving the way for smoother regulatory approval and real-world application.

Participants explored successful test bed models from Israel and heard directly from seven Serbian startups navigating the path of bringing AI-powered healthcare products to market. The workshop highlighted a shared goal: building a supportive regulatory ecosystem that empowers Serbian innovators to turn ideas into healthcare solutions with both local and global impact.

Data Science for the Future Health System

The panel "Bridging Knowledge and Care: Data Science for the Health System of the Future" explored how data science can transform healthcare systems to be more predictive, personalized, and equitable. International experts discussed how data-driven insights bridge the gap between scientific discovery and patient care.

Panelists shared examples of how advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and multi-omics technologies are reshaping health understanding — from prevention to treatment. MultiOmic Health was highlighted for using multi-omics data and AI to unlock insights into metabolic and cardiovascular diseases by integrating biological, clinical, and behavioral data.

The Novartis Foundation presented the CARDIO4Cities initiative, which demonstrates how data science drives improvements in urban heart health. By combining local data, technology, and community engagement, the initiative has shown how smarter data use can reduce cardiovascular risk at the population level.

These global experiences provide valuable reference points for building Serbia's own data-driven health ecosystem. As BIO4 fosters collaboration among academia, startups, and healthcare institutions, it continues laying the groundwork for a health system powered by knowledge and data.
