A BIO4 Campus delegation visited Thessaloniki for a series of strategic meetings with Pfizer's Digital Innovation Center (CDI) and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), aimed at strengthening regional collaboration in life sciences and biotech innovation.

The delegation included representatives from six BIO4 tenant institutions: Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" (IBISS), Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), Institute for Medical Research (IMR), R&D Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IVI), Faculty of Pharmacy (University of Belgrade), and Faculty of Medicine (University of Belgrade).

Academic collaboration with AUTh

At Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, discussions with the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Veterinary Medicine focused on developing academic cooperation around shared research interests, particularly in AI-driven diagnostics and models for bilateral collaboration. The meeting explored opportunities for joint projects, researcher exchange, and alignment on methodologies that could support cross-border research initiatives.

Industry engagement with Pfizer CDI

Pfizer's Digital Innovation Center expressed strong interest in Serbia's R&D tax incentives, returnee talent programs, and the potential for open innovation partnerships. The conversation highlighted how BIO4 Campus and its tenant institutions could serve as partners in translational research, pilot studies, and access to emerging biotech talent in the region.

Regional positioning

The visit reinforced BIO4 Campus's role as a growing regional platform for biotech collaboration, connecting science, policy, and industry across Southeast Europe. By engaging with both academic institutions and multinational R&D centers, BIO4 continues to build the partnerships that will support long-term innovation capacity and international competitiveness for Serbia's life sciences sector.
