120+ Oxford and Cambridge researchers explore future collaboration with BIO4 Campus, the new bioeconomy hub in Europe

London, U.K. – 6 June 2025 — BIO4 Campus, Serbia’s flagship biotechnology and life-sciences cluster under construction in Belgrade, hosted an exclusive gala at the historic Oxford & Cambridge Club on Pall Mall. The event brought together more than 120 scientists, post-doctoral researchers, PhD candidates and professors from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Imperial College London, King’s College and other leading institutions to explore joint research and commercialisation opportunities with the emerging BIO4 ecosystem.

Guests included a delegation of Serbian PhD candidates in biotechnology from Oxford and Cambridge, Serbian professors already collaborating with BIO4 Campus, and H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United Kingdom.

Introductory speech was delivered by Marie B. Kruth, Oxford DPhil candidate in Musculoskeletal Sciences and President of the Oxford Biohacking Society.

Nenad Paunović, Advisor to the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, presented BIO4 Campus to the audience and emphasized Serbia’s commitment to international partnerships.

Richard Hughes, Vice-President at Nature Publishing Group, delivered the keynote speech and talked about partnership potentials with emerging biotech ecosystems like BIO4 Campus in Serbia.

The gala was co-organised with Ivan Marković, Oxford postgraduate student, and the Oxford Biohacking Society (OBS), which marked its first anniversary during the evening. OBS unites students, researchers and industry experts devoted to extending human health-span through advanced biotechnologies—an ambition closely aligned with BIO4 Campus’s mission.

BIO4 Campus is scheduled to open its first research facilities in new premises in 2027, bringing together academia, startups, investors and global industry partners in biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics and biodiversity. The London event is an important step in a series of international roadshows aimed at forging strategic alliances with the best global companies and universities.
