To promote new opportunities for science–industry collaboration, BIO4 Campus and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation held a joint event on August 5th at the Expo2027 showroom in Belgrade. The event centered on the Support for Technology Transfer and Commercialization in Biotech program, launched under the SAIGE project (Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project).

The goal of the event was to bring together public research institutions and private sector stakeholders to explore partnerships for innovation-driven projects across BIO4 Campus’s four strategic focus areas: biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics & AI, and biodiversity.

The opening address was delivered by Dr. Marija Gnjatović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, who emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the research and business communities. She noted that Serbia’s scientific potential—when paired with effective support mechanisms—can lead to market-ready innovations with meaningful social and economic impact.

The event began with a presentation by the SAIGE team, who outlined the structure, goals, and funding opportunities of the new program. This was followed by short pitch-style presentations from all public research institutes within the BIO4 Campus, each highlighting their scientific expertise, available commercial services, and ideas for collaboration with the private sector.

The event also welcomed BIO4-affiliated faculty representatives, numerous private companies, startups, BIO4 MoU partners, and representatives from NALED, reflecting strong interest from across the innovation ecosystem in building joint research–business initiatives.

A dedicated Q&A session opened space for practical questions from the private sector, focusing on how companies can benefit from participating in the program. Key advantages include access to expert knowledge, research infrastructure, co-development of new products or services, and financial and advisory support for market-oriented innovation.

The event concluded with closing remarks from BIO4 Campus CEO Smiljana Krivokuća, who invited all participants to take an active role in advancing science–industry collaboration and reiterated the BIO4 team’s full commitment to supporting that process.
