Future tenants of BIO4 campus sign architectural foundations

Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic attended today the signing of the architectural basis for the premises of the BIO4 campus with representatives of the institutions that will have its offices there after the campus is built.

After signing the document with representatives of seven faculties and nine institutes, Begovic pointed out that the BIO4 campus is not only an infrastructure project, but also the largest investment in an individual project in the field of science in Serbia, adding that the contribution was made by different teams of people, from faculties, institutes and the science park, to the Serbian government.

This project represents a change in the concept of science as we know it. During the previous two years of work, we brought the institutes and faculties closer because we became aware that we cannot progress without each other. Now, new projects and cooperation with companies are emerging, said the Minister.

She pointed out that such a project requires huge support from the state, but also the understanding of the scientific community and the institutions of higher education, and she also announced that the first construction permit is expected in the next five days.

The Dean of the Belgrade Faculty of Biology, Professor Ljubisa Stanisavljevic pointed out that this project is extremely important for that faculty and all other faculties and institutions, not only because of the fact that they will finally get their own space and state-of-the-art equipment, but this concept of work will also attract a much larger number of students and enable full capacity filling.

Director of the Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy Marija Gnjatovic stated that infrastructure does not only include space and equipment, but also centres of knowledge and support for conducting scientific research, adding that within the BIO4 campus there will be departments for technology transfer, support for project financing and innovation activities.
