The Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Begović, emphasized today that the development of natural sciences presents a significant opportunity for Serbia and that the BIO4 Campus is an example of how the potential of various scientific fields can be utilized.

Speaking at a panel titled “Action Plan for Green Transition in Serbia,” held as part of the Kopaonik Business Forum, Begović highlighted that the BIO4 Campus, as a concept, represents an opportunity to harness the full strength of science across various fields—genomics, sequencing, neuroscience, the application and development of robotics, and artificial intelligence.

The Minister stated that she sees technology and science as tools that will allow Serbia to recover what has been lost and improve areas where efforts may not have been optimal, enabling leaps forward in these fields.

She noted the importance of the private sector, which is why the BIO4 Campus is designed to bring together academia, the private sector, the government, and startup companies.

Begović added that reproductive medicine and related research are also opening and expanding possibilities, providing greater opportunities and increasing the likelihood of addressing population growth challenges, potentially reversing the trend of population decline.

The Minister emphasized that these are long-term goals but stressed the importance of the social context and policies that are actively being developed in Serbia.
