Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, Dr. Jelena Begović, met with a delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), led by the Director of Public Services for the UAE Government, His Excellency Mohamed bin Taliah, at the Government of the Republic of Serbia building.

The participants exchanged impressions from the second Biotech Future Forum, where both spoke during the panel discussion titled “Key Roles of the State in Biotechnological Innovations.”

“We discussed our impressions of the second Biotech Future Forum, and I am very pleased that Mr. Taliah expressed his pleasant surprise and satisfaction with Serbia’s progress in building a biotechnology ecosystem and the preparations for the construction of the BIO4 Campus,” said Dr. Begović after the meeting.

“We opened the door for potential collaboration, including the possible presence of a UAE university within the BIO4 Campus to enhance the international component of the campus from the start,” the minister stated.

“We are working on multiple levels to create an ecosystem where a campus like BIO4 can operate at its maximum capacity. This will include institutes, faculties, the private and public sectors, startups, and large companies,” Dr. Begović explained during the meeting.

H.E. Mohamed bin Taliah praised the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. “It is excellent that the BIO4 Campus will bring all these participants together in one place and that you are working on the legal framework to support such a campus,” said H.E. Mohamed bin Taliah.

“Thank you for inviting me to the Biotech Future Forum. I truly enjoyed being part of it. I would also like to invite you and your delegation to visit the UAE to experience firsthand what we are doing in the field of biotechnology. We have research centers, free zones, and Dubai Science Park,” he stated. “We believe we can assist and continue collaborating to our mutual benefit, and we are at your disposal if there is any way we can help,” added Bin Taliah.

The participants exchanged experiences, and Dr. Begović emphasized that the UAE’s innovation ecosystem served as an inspiring model during the planning of the BIO4 Campus project. “We admire the efficiency of your government in implementing such a system, and it would be very beneficial for us to understand how your legal framework functions,” said Dr. Begović. H.E. Mohamed bin Taliah assured that efforts would be made to establish this form of cooperation in the near future.
