Minister Begović Explores BIO4 Campus Collaboration with Wuhan Institute for Innovation

The Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Jelena Begović, held discussions today with representatives of the Wuhan Institute for Industrial Innovation and Development about new areas of cooperation, particularly within the BIO4 Campus framework.
During the meeting, Begović emphasized that there are various aspects of potential collaboration, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and autonomous vehicles, which are also crucial for Serbia's future development.
The Minister noted that the potential for cooperation in these areas is immense, adding that there is already excellent collaboration with the People’s Republic of China in science, which Serbian researchers are highly interested in, fostering strong ties with various institutes across China.
"We are also looking forward to the participation of the People’s Republic of China in the Science and Technology Fair in May in Belgrade, so that representatives of our private sector can witness the fantastic innovations coming from China and learn more about everything you are doing in your country," the Minister said.
Begović pointed out that the BIO4 Campus will be the largest single investment in science in Serbia, as well as the largest in the region, viewing the project as an advantage not only for Serbia but for the region and the world, as it will be an exceptional place for joint collaboration.
She also expressed satisfaction with the establishment of the Panda Center within the BIO4 Campus, where Serbian and Chinese experts will work together on joint research projects.
Nenad Paunović, Director of the IT and Entrepreneurship Team in the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, presented the BIO4 Campus project to those in attendance.
Paunović highlighted that the BIO4 Campus will be a place where the academic and research community will work closely with private companies and startups.
Li Hiling, representing the Wuhan Institute for Industrial Innovation and Development, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration and her hopes for projects where this partnership can be realized.
"Our cooperation so far has been excellent, and we want to strengthen it further through new joint endeavors to reinforce the friendship and collaboration between our two nations," said Li Hiling.
Both sides expressed a desire to work together on the BIO4 Campus in all fields where cooperation is possible. The Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation and the Wuhan Institute for Industrial Innovation and Development will continue exploring opportunities for collaboration within this framework.
