Mini Minglarium: Biomedicum – Precision Biomaterial Characterization for Research and Industry
08/12/2025

BIO4 Campus hosted another session of the Mini Minglarijum series, featuring Biomedicum, the central core laboratory of the University of Belgrade dedicated to precise and reliable characterization of biomaterials — from biological fluids and lysates to biopsies and resections.
Prof. Marin Jukić from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, presented how Biomedicum provides a shared research environment where biomedical experiments can be conducted with precision, reproducibility, and expert oversight across multiple university departments and external partners.

Comprehensive analytical capabilities
As a core facility, Biomedicum offers a broad range of methods that support researchers from both academia and industry. The laboratory's capabilities include PCR, Western blot, and ELISA assays, UPLC-MS/MS analysis of small biomolecules, histology, immunohistochemistry, and advanced microscopy.
These services enable research teams to obtain high-quality, reliable results across diverse biomaterial types — providing the analytical foundation needed for robust science and translational applications.

Building capacity through shared expertise
Beyond providing analytical services, Biomedicum supports the research community through training and practical courses. These programs help laboratories establish new methods and strengthen their own capacities, creating conditions for more competitive project proposals and deeper collaboration in biomedicine.
Prof. Jukić outlined how Biomedicum functions not only as a service provider, but as a partner in building long-term research capabilities across the University of Belgrade and beyond — an approach that aligns with BIO4 Campus's vision of developing a collaborative ecosystem where infrastructure, knowledge, and expertise are shared to strengthen the entire biotech community.
The Mini Minglarijum series continues to offer a platform for BIO4 tenants and partners to present their work, methodologies, and strategic contributions to Serbia's scientific and innovation landscape.
